Duties

  • Represent clients in removal proceedings before immigration courts and the Board of Immigration Appeals (BIA).
  • Handle family-based immigration cases, including petitions and adjustment of status applications.
  • Prepare and file applications for humanitarian relief (U Visas, T Visas, VAWA petitions).
  • Conduct legal research and draft motions, briefs, pleadings, and other legal documents.
  • Provide legal counsel to clients on immigration laws, policies, and procedures.
  • Attend USCIS interviews and immigration court hearings in Orlando and surrounding areas.
  • Manage a caseload, ensuring compliance with deadlines and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain regular communication with clients, providing updates and legal advice.
  • Stay informed of changes in immigration law and participate in ongoing professional development.

Requirements

  • 3-4 years of experience handling immigration law, including USCIS and EOIR proceedings.
  • Expertise in removal defense, family-based immigration, and humanitarian relief cases (U Visas, T Visas, VAWA).
  • Admission to a state bar association.
  • Proven experience in litigation, including immigration court proceedings.
  • Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Knowledge of legal administrative procedures and protocols.
  • Ability to communicate complex legal concepts effectively to clients, colleagues, and team members.
  • Proficiency in legal research tools such as Westlaw and Lexis-Nexis.
  • Experience drafting legal documents, including pleadings, motions, and contracts.
  • Fluency in English is required; Spanish proficiency is a plus.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Admission to a state bar association (licensed to practice law).
