A law firm seeks an experienced Trademark Attorney to join its growing team in Richmond. The ideal candidate will have at least four years of direct experience in trademark law, including expertise in trademark clearance, prosecution, and enforcement. This is an exciting opportunity to work on complex trademark matters for high-profile clients, manage both U.S. and international trademark portfolios, and provide strategic legal advice. The successful applicant will demonstrate excellent legal writing, critical thinking, and organizational skills, with a proven ability to manage multiple projects and deliver results.

Duties:

  • Manage U.S. and international trademark and patent portfolios for clients
  • Conduct trademark and patent clearance searches and provide actionable legal advice
  • Draft, file, and prosecute trademark and patent applications before relevant authorities
  • Handle intellectual property enforcement actions, including oppositions, cancellations, and litigation
  • Advise clients on IP strategy, including licensing and transactional matters
  • Conduct IP due diligence for mergers and acquisitions, supporting the firm's corporate clients
  • Stay updated on developments in IP law and communicate these changes to clients and colleagues
  • Provide training on intellectual property law to both clients and internal team members

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
  • Admission to the Virginia State Bar and in good standing
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience specializing in trademark law, with a focus on clearance, prosecution, and enforcement
  • Strong academic credentials and a demonstrated ability to conduct complex legal research
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented, capable of managing a high volume of tasks simultaneously
  • Exceptional legal writing, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with both clients and internal team members
  • Proven ability to work independently and maintain client relationships in a fast-paced environment

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Admission to the Virginia State Bar and in good standing
