Civil Litigation Attorney

A law firm in San Diego, CA, is seeking a Civil Litigation Attorney with a minimum of 5 years of experience to manage their own caseload. The role requires strong writing, researching skills, and the ability to handle all aspects of litigation from discovery through trial.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Manage a diverse caseload of civil litigation matters independently.
• Conduct written discovery, including interrogatories, requests for production, and requests for admission.
• Take and defend depositions of parties, witnesses, and experts.
• Prepare and argue motions, including motions for summary judgment and other dispositive motions.
• Represent clients at mediations, settlement conferences, and other alternative dispute resolution proceedings.
• Prepare for and participate in trials, including courtroom appearances and presentations.
• Communicate effectively with clients, opposing counsel, and court personnel.

Requirements:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
• Admission to the California State Bar, active and in good standing.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in civil litigation, preferably including defense of personal injury, lease disputes, and contractual claims.
• Proven ability to manage a caseload independently and efficiently.
• Strong writing and research skills with the ability to draft clear and persuasive legal documents.
• Experience with all stages of litigation from pre-trial through appeal.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and provide mentorship to junior associates as needed.
