A law firm in Houston, TX, is seeking a Construction Associate Attorney with a minimum of 2 years of experience. The ideal candidate will have experience in prosecuting and/or defending construction claims, drafting and negotiating contracts, and providing legal counsel on construction-related risks. Candidates with experience in insurance, commercial law, products liability, or general litigation will also be considered, provided they have a strong interest in practicing law within the construction industry.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage litigation involving construction claims, representing clients in various dispute resolution forums including mediation, arbitration, and litigation.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate construction contracts, subcontractor agreements, and related documents.
  • Conduct risk assessments and provide legal advice on construction projects, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and contractual obligations.
  • Conduct legal research on construction laws and regulations, preparing legal memoranda and opinions as needed.
  • Collaborate with clients, contractors, and project stakeholders to develop effective legal strategies and solutions.
  • Assist senior attorneys in complex construction matters and transactions, providing support on legal issues and case management.
  • Participate in client meetings, consultations, and negotiations, effectively communicating legal advice and strategies.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the State Bar of Texas or eligibility for admission by motion.
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in construction law, including litigation and contract negotiation.
  • Experience in insurance, commercial litigation, products liability, or related fields is a plus.
  • Superior academic credentials from a top-tier law school.
