Duties

  • Case Management:

    • Manage personal injury cases from initial filing to trial, ensuring all deadlines and legal requirements are met.
    • Draft and respond to discovery requests, take depositions and prepare for hearings.
    • Lead a litigation team, coordinating tasks and ensuring efficient workflow.
    • Oversee the pre-litigation process, working closely with a small team to resolve cases before they reach trial.
    • Provide expert advice to clients, adjusters, and staff regarding case status and strategies.
  • Leadership and Team Coordination:

    • Successfully supervised and mentored a team of 5+ staff members throughout the litigation process.
    • Lead a smaller pre-litigation team, focusing on case management and settlement negotiations.
    • Collaborate with other attorneys, legal staff, and clients to ensure cases progress smoothly.
  • Trial Preparation and Advocacy:

    • Represent clients in court, conducting trials and presenting cases effectively.
    • Develop and refine trial strategies to achieve optimal outcomes for clients.
    • Expand trial experience and actively pursue opportunities for continuing education and board certification in trucking litigation.

Requirements

  • Licensing:

    • Current, active membership in the Texas Bar, in good standing.
    • Admission to federal courts in Texas is preferred.
  • Experience:

    • Minimum of 5 years of experience in personal injury litigation, with a focus on commercial vehicle accidents.
    • Proven experience managing litigation cases from start to finish, including trial work.
    • Pre-litigation case management and negotiation experience.
    • Experience working with trucking and commercial motor vehicle cases is a plus.
  • Skills:

    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Strong analytical abilities to solve complex legal issues effectively.
    • Proficiency with legal research tools such as Westlaw and Lexis-Nexis.
    • Ability to lead and collaborate within a team, with a focus on efficiency and positive results.
    • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an ABA-accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Active membership with the Texas Bar (required).
  • Board certification in Trucking Accident Law is encouraged and supported by the firm.
