Duties:

  • Provide expert legal guidance on immigration matters and devise strategic solutions for clients.
  • Represent clients in removal proceedings before the Immigration Court and the Board of Immigration Appeals, handling both detained and non-detained cases.
  • Manage an active caseload while ensuring deadlines and legal requirements are met.
  • Conduct intake sessions with detained individuals at detention centers, assessing their cases.
  • Prepare and file immigration applications, including removal defense and family-based petitions.
  • Review and amend immigration applications to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Collaborate with law enforcement, prosecutors, and community organizations regarding immigration law changes.
  • Meet with prospective clients for in-depth consultations, creating tailored strategies for each case.
  • Develop case strategies and assist clients and witnesses in preparing for USCIS testimony or court hearings.
  • Provide thorough legal analysis to identify potential benefits and outcomes for clients' cases.
  • Prepare legal briefs, motions, and other filings for immigration-related cases.

Requirements:

  • 5 to 8 years of experience in immigration law, with a focus on removal defense, family-based petitions, and USCIS applications.
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple cases effectively and prioritize tasks.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently while also being an active, supportive team member.
  • Bilingual skills (English/Spanish) are highly preferred.
  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Experience with case management software and other legal tools is preferred.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
  • Active membership in the State Bar of California or eligibility to practice in California.

Certifications:

  • Bar admission in California.

Skills:

  • Extensive knowledge of immigration law, including detained cases, removal defense, family-based petitions, and USCIS applications.
  • Exceptional legal research and writing skills for drafting legal documents and briefs.
  • Strong interpersonal and client-facing skills, with the ability to communicate complex legal concepts clearly.
  • Capable of managing a caseload efficiently and meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in legal case management software.
