Job Overview:
A law firm is seeking a Litigation Associate Attorney to join its Construction, Development & Condemnation Practice Group in Charleston, SC. The role involves representing clients in complex construction litigation, providing sophisticated legal services, and engaging in professional development within a collaborative team environment.

Location:

  • Charleston, SC

Duties:

  • Represent clients in complex construction litigation, including drafting pleadings, arguing motions, and handling discovery processes.
  • Conduct depositions and engage in mediation, arbitration, and litigation in both state and federal courts.
  • Advise clients on contract negotiation, preparation, and review related to construction projects.
  • Appear before regulatory bodies regarding licensing and building code issues.
  • Handle disputes related to defective work, delays, unanticipated conditions, lien rights, surety claims, change orders, and payment issues.

Requirements:

  • 1 to 4 years of litigation experience, ideally with a focus on construction law.
  • Strong research, writing, and oral communication skills.
  • Proven ability to handle complex litigation and represent clients effectively.
  • Admission to the South Carolina Bar in good standing.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active membership in the South Carolina Bar.

Skills:

  • Proficient in litigation, particularly within the construction and development sectors.
  • Effective negotiation and advocacy skills.
  • Strong analytical abilities and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage a diverse caseload and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
