Key Responsibilities:

  • Represent clients in complex litigation matters, with a focus on healthcare and/or energy sectors.
  • Manage all phases of litigation, including case evaluation, pleadings, discovery, depositions, and trial.
  • Draft and file legal documents such as motions, briefs, and pleadings.
  • Appear in court for hearings, motions, and trials, advocating for clients effectively.
  • Conduct comprehensive legal research and prepare detailed legal memoranda.
  • Develop and implement case strategies in collaboration with senior attorneys.
  • Oversee the discovery process, including document review, preparation of interrogatories, and witness preparation.
  • Negotiate settlements and engage in alternative dispute resolution when appropriate.
  • Maintain regular communication with clients, providing updates and strategic advice.
  • Stay informed about developments and trends in healthcare and energy litigation.

Requirements:

  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 3+ years of litigation experience.
    • Experience in healthcare and/or energy litigation is preferred.
    • Demonstrated ability to manage complex cases and appear in court.
  • Education:
    • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school with excellent academic credentials.
  • Licensure and Certifications:
    • Active license to practice law in the state of West Virginia is required.
