Job Overview:
A law firm in Los Angeles is seeking an experienced Immigration Attorney to join their team. Duties:

  • Develop legal strategies and prepare clients and witnesses for court or USCIS testimony
  • Represent both detained and non-detained individuals in removal proceedings before the Immigration Court and the Board of Immigration Appeals
  • Manage a diverse caseload, ensuring timely and efficient case progression
  • Conduct intake sessions and visits with detained clients at detention centers
  • Prepare and file various immigration applications, including removal defense, family-based immigration petitions, and humanitarian cases
  • Review and revise immigration application packets, making necessary adjustments for accuracy and completeness
  • Collaborate with law enforcement, prosecutorial offices, and community organizations to discuss and implement changes in immigration law
  • Conduct strategic consultations with potential clients to assess their cases and determine the best approach
  • Provide legal analysis and advice on potential case benefits and outcomes
  • Draft and submit legal briefs for various immigration matters

Requirements:

  • 3-5 years of experience in Immigration Law
  • Ability to manage and move cases forward efficiently
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative, team-oriented attitude
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred
  • Familiarity with Family-Based Petitions, Humanitarian cases, EOIR, Detained matters, Citizenship applications, and USCIS processes
  • Proficiency with case management software is a plus

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
  • Active Bar membership in good standing

Certifications:

  • Bar Admission in the relevant state

Skills:

  • Excellent legal writing and research skills
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills
  • Ability to handle a high volume of cases with attention to detail
  • Deep understanding of immigration law and procedure
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
