Job Overview: A leading financial services law firm is seeking a Title Attorney to handle title-related mortgage default matters across the state of Texas. The position, based in Plano, TX, offers an exciting opportunity to work with a team of legal professionals in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. The successful candidate will manage title issues in foreclosure cases, work on title curative actions, and oversee various real estate transactions. This role requires expertise in Texas title law, REO closings, and an understanding of the foreclosure process.

Location:

  • Plano, TX

Duties:

  • Collaborate with foreclosure attorneys to ensure clear title in mortgage default cases.
  • Review title reports to identify and address any title defects.
  • Cure title defects and prepare and submit title claims.
  • Communicate with counsel retained by title companies to resolve title issues and manage curative lawsuits.
  • Draft legal documents related to real property title, such as deeds, assignments, and correction instruments.
  • Oversee deed in lieu of foreclosure transactions.
  • Manage the post-sale conveyance process for real estate transactions.
  • Review title commitments and ensure compliance in closing REO transactions.

Requirements:

  • Strong understanding of Texas title law.
  • Title curative experience, including managing title defects and submitting claims.
  • Experience with REO closings and understanding the Texas foreclosure process.
  • Licensed to practice law in Texas.
  • Ability to handle a transactional caseload with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with clients, title companies, and other parties involved in the title and foreclosure process.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to manage complex real estate matters.

Education:

  • J.D. from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Licensed to practice law in Texas.

Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of Texas title law and title curative procedures.
  • Familiarity with the Texas foreclosure process.
  • Experience with REO closings and title-related real estate transactions.
  • Excellent legal research and drafting skills.
  • Ability to manage a caseload independently and efficiently.
  • Strong communication and client management skills.
