Financial Services Litigation Associate Attorney

A law firm in Kansas City, MO, is seeking a Financial Services Litigation Associate Attorney to enhance their legal team. The ideal candidate will have a strong academic background and solid law firm or clerking experience. This role requires superb problem-solving, writing, and communication skills, with a focus on litigation involving commercial real estate, distressed loans, and related financial instruments. The successful candidate will have demonstrated courtroom experience, including taking and defending depositions.

Key Responsibilities

• Represent clients in financial services litigation, including matters related to commercial real estate, distressed loans, debt and security instruments, and creditor and lender liability.
• Manage all aspects of litigation including taking and defending depositions, preparing witnesses, and overseeing discovery.
• Draft, review, and file legal documents such as pleadings, motions, and briefs.
• Appear in court to present evidence, argue cases, and manage trial proceedings.
• Conduct thorough legal research and analysis to support case strategies and decisions.
• Negotiate settlements and engage in mediation or arbitration as needed.
• Collaborate with clients and colleagues to develop effective case strategies and provide legal advice.
• Maintain accurate and organized case files and ensure compliance with all court deadlines and procedural requirements.

Requirements

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
• Admission to the Missouri Bar.
• Minimum of 3 years of relevant litigation experience or substantial clerkship experience, with a focus on financial services, commercial real estate, and distressed loans.
• Proven experience in taking and defending depositions and managing courtroom activities.
• Strong academic credentials and demonstrated problem-solving and communication skills.
