A law firm seeks an experienced Energy Attorney to join its expanding Energy and Environmental practice group in Towson, MD. The successful candidate will work within a collaborative and dynamic team of professionals in the energy sector. This position offers hybrid work opportunities and the chance to work with leading experts in the field, with opportunities for growth and career advancement.

Duties:

  • Represent clients in energy-related matters before state utility commissions, the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), and state and federal appellate courts.
  • Provide legal counsel on regulatory and business issues within the energy industry, focusing on compliance, transactions, and renewable energy.
  • Advise clients on regulatory challenges, litigation, and the development of renewable energy projects.
  • Draft and review legal documents, including filings, reports, and regulatory submissions.
  • Research energy law and related regulations, providing strategic guidance to clients.
  • Participate in hearings, meetings, and other activities as required, including occasional travel to Harrisburg, PA.
  • Collaborate with senior attorneys and clients to develop effective legal strategies.

Requirements:

  • J.D. from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the Maryland Bar, or the ability to be admitted within one year.
  • Interest or prior experience in energy law, particularly in regulatory matters, administrative litigation, or renewable energy transactions.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Detail-oriented, self-motivated, and able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Willingness to travel as required for hearings and client meetings.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Admission to the Maryland State Bar or ability to obtain bar admission within one year.

Skills:

  • Strong understanding of energy law, including regulatory and transactional matters.
  • Excellent legal research and writing skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks effectively.
