Job Overview:

A law firm seeks a Senior Litigation Attorney with at least 8 years of experience to join its growing team in one of the following markets: Boston, MA; Charleston, SC; Charlotte, NC; Nashville, TN; or Providence, RI. The ideal candidate will have extensive litigation experience, strong leadership skills, and a desire to contribute to the firm’s growth. A portable book of business with at least $200,000 in collections is preferred. The role involves handling complex litigation cases from inception through trial, with minimal supervision, and provides an opportunity to work in a collaborative and dynamic environment.

Duties:

  • Handle litigation cases from inception through trial, including drafting discovery pleadings and motions.
  • Participate in all aspects of the firm’s professional activities, including client intake and trial preparation.
  • Serve as first or second chair in trials.
  • Develop case strategies and advise clients on risk mitigation and pre-suit resolution options.
  • Draft and argue complex pleadings, motions, and dispositive motions.
  • Manage the discovery process and supervise junior attorneys and staff in document review.
  • Conduct legal research using Westlaw and other tools.
  • Represent clients in mediations, arbitrations (AAA), and other dispute resolution processes.
  • Maintain effective client communication and manage sensitive matters confidentially.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 8 years of litigation experience in state and federal courts.
  • Extensive experience in trial preparation, case management, and complex litigation.
  • Proven track record of drafting complex pleadings and handling discovery.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of state and federal court procedures, as well as applicable laws and rules.
  • Significant courtroom experience and ability to manage cases with minimal supervision.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active license to practice law and in good standing in Tennessee (other states preferred based on the location).

Skills:

  • Expertise in legal research and case strategy development.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and organizational abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple cases efficiently and handle sensitive matters with discretion.
  • Familiarity with Westlaw and other legal research tools.
