The ideal candidate will have significant experience in managing personal injury cases in New York, possess a thorough understanding of court procedures, and have excellent communication and negotiation skills. The position requires the ability to handle a demanding caseload while managing and directing support staff.

Duties:

  • Represent clients in personal injury litigation cases in court.
  • Prepare and draft motions, discovery documents, and other legal filings.
  • Manage and oversee an active caseload, ensuring timely progress in cases.
  • Communicate effectively with clients to provide updates and gather information.
  • Negotiate settlements with defense counsel and insurance companies.
  • Supervise and collaborate with paralegals and support staff.
  • Participate in the discovery process, including taking and defending depositions.
  • Handle court appearances and engage in motion practice.

Requirements:

  • 3-7 years of experience in a New York-based personal injury law firm.
  • Strong knowledge of CPLR, motion practice, discovery process, and court operations in all metropolitan New York counties.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to manage cases independently with minimal supervision.
  • Proactive, organized, and detail-oriented approach to case management.
  • Ability to manage and direct paralegals and legal support staff.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the New York State Bar.

Certifications:

  • Must be in good standing with the New York State Bar.

Skills:

  • Strong legal research and analytical skills.
