Job Overview: An established law firm in Omaha, NE is seeking an experienced Labor & Employment Attorney with a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience. The successful candidate will play a critical role in advising and representing employers in various labor and employment matters, including litigation, compliance, and regulatory guidance. Location:

Duties:

  • Defend and litigate employment-related lawsuits in federal and state courts, including conducting jury trials.
  • Provide legal counsel to employers on compliance with state and federal labor and employment laws and regulations.
  • Draft and revise employment policies, handbooks, contracts, and separation agreements to ensure legal compliance.
  • Conduct internal investigations or audits for clients, offering risk management solutions to prevent future legal issues.
  • Advise clients on compliance with occupational health and safety laws, assist with investigations, and defend against safety-related citations and lawsuits.
  • Develop strategies for maintaining union-free workplaces and provide guidance to unionized employers on labor relations and union issues.
  • Lead collective bargaining negotiations and represent employers in union grievances and arbitrations.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in labor and employment law.
  • In-depth knowledge of local, state, and federal labor and employment laws, including wage and hour laws, anti-discrimination, anti-retaliation, and workplace safety regulations.
  • Strong experience in litigation, including trial experience in federal and state courts.
  • Ability to provide proactive regulatory guidance and risk management advice to clients.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Licensed to practice law in Nebraska, or eligibility for admission.

Skills:

  • Expertise in labor and employment law, including regulatory compliance and litigation.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex legal concepts clearly.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously.
