A prominent law firm in Minneapolis is seeking an IP Practice Group Attorney to bolster its IP Practice by focusing on the strategic development, procurement, and counseling of patent portfolios. The ideal candidate will specialize in drafting and prosecuting chemical-related patent applications, managing global patent portfolios, and offering expert opinions on freedom-to-operate matters. Strong academic credentials, admission to the Minnesota Bar, or eligibility for admission, along with exceptional communication skills, are prerequisites for this role.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the IP Practice in crafting strategies for patent portfolio development and management
  • Draft patent applications pertaining to chemical engineering
  • Prosecute patent applications in the field of chemistry
  • Oversee global patent portfolios (preferred)
  • Prepare freedom-to-operate opinions (preferred)
  • Engage directly with clients to address intellectual property concerns
  • Provide expert counsel on patent-related issues

 

Requirements:

  • Admission in good standing with the Minnesota Bar or eligibility for admission
  • Bachelor's or advanced degree in chemical engineering (preferred), materials science, chemistry, or equivalent relevant experience
  • Profound comprehension of chemistry and its associated principles
  • Outstanding academic track record
  • Comfortable communicating directly with clients
  • Proficient in writing and analysis

 

Education:

Bachelor's or advanced degree in chemical engineering, materials science, or chemistry

 

Certifications:

Admission to the Minnesota Bar or eligibility for admission

 

Skills:

  • Proficient in drafting chemical-related patent applications
  • Experienced in prosecuting chemical-related patent applications
  • Ability to manage global patent portfolios (preferred)
  • Capable of preparing opinions concerning freedom-to-operate (preferred)
  • Strong grasp of chemistry and related principles
  • Exceptional writing and analytical skills
  • Comfortable working directly with clients
