Job Overview: A law firm based in Washington, DC, is seeking an Associate Attorney with experience in patent prosecution and litigation to join their team. The ideal candidate will have a background in electrical engineering, physics, or a related field, and a strong foundation in intellectual property law. The position requires proficiency in handling patent drafting, prosecution, and litigation, along with a focus on innovative technologies such as wireless networking and software.

Duties:

• Draft, prosecute, and litigate patent applications for clients within the technology sector.
• Provide strategic advice and analysis on patent portfolios.
• Assist with patent litigation matters and contribute to trial preparation.
• Engage in client consultations to understand their technological innovations and provide tailored legal guidance.
• Collaborate with other legal professionals on matters involving patent prosecution and litigation.
• Stay updated on developments in intellectual property law and emerging technologies.

Requirements:

• 3-6 years of patent prosecution experience, including application drafting
• Experience drafting and prosecuting patents in the areas of electrical engineering, Software, or mechanical engineering.
• Familiarity with chip design or experience with a technology company is a plus.
• Background in wireless networking technologies such as 3G/4G/5G is highly desirable.
• Admitted to the USPTO and licensed to practice law.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent organizational, analytical, and research capabilities.

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
• A technical degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or physics is highly preferred.

Certifications:

• USPTO membership is required.
• Bar admission in Washington, DC (or willingness to obtain it) is necessary.
