Job Overview

A law firm seeks a skilled Law & Motion Attorney to join its Habitability Litigation Team. This position is ideal for an attorney with strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills. The attorney will be responsible for drafting and arguing substantive motions, including demurrers, motions for summary judgment/adjudication, oppositions, and various pre-trial and trial motions. This role requires a proactive professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is committed to advocating for tenants facing uninhabitable living conditions.

Duties

• Draft and argue complex law and motion matters, including dispositive and evidentiary motions.

• Conduct thorough legal research and analysis to support litigation strategy.

• Assist trial teams in developing case theories and refining legal arguments.

• Attend and argue motions in state courts, including ex parte applications and other hearings.

• Collaborate with litigation teams to strengthen case strategy and support ongoing matters.

Requirements

• 2+ years of experience in civil litigation, preferably in habitability, tenant rights, or personal injury cases.

• Strong legal research, writing, and oral advocacy skills.

• Experience drafting and arguing dispositive and procedural motions.

• Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced litigation practice.

Education

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

• Active membership in the California State Bar.
