A law firm seeks an entry-level Immigration Attorney to join their dynamic team in Los Angeles, CA. This position is ideal for a motivated attorney eager to advance their career in immigration law. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to manage a varied caseload, directly interact with clients, and collaborate with a supportive team of experienced attorneys and legal assistants. Duties:

  • Explain complex immigration law concepts to clients and provide strategic legal solutions.
  • Represent clients in removal proceedings before Immigration Courts and the Board of Immigration Appeals.
  • Manage and prioritize a diverse caseload, ensuring timely and efficient case progress.
  • Conduct intake interviews with detained clients and provide legal counsel on available options.
  • Prepare and submit a wide range of immigration applications, including family-based petitions and removal defense applications.
  • Review immigration application packets, ensuring they meet legal standards and adjusting where necessary.
  • Collaborate with law enforcement, community organizations, and prosecutorial offices to stay informed on changes in immigration laws and policies.
  • Meet with potential clients, providing initial consultations and developing case strategies tailored to their needs.
  • Prepare clients and witnesses for testimonies in court or before USCIS officers.
  • Draft and file legal briefs, motions, and other documents for submission to courts and immigration agencies.

Requirements:

  • 0-3 years of experience in immigration law.
  • Strong ability to manage caseloads and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Team-oriented with a collaborative mindset.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred, but not required.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with clients and colleagues.
  • Proven ability to move legal cases forward and maintain client satisfaction.
  • Experience with family-based immigration petitions, humanitarian relief, EOIR cases, detained individuals, citizenship applications, and other USCIS procedures.
  • Experience with case management software is a plus.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active bar admission (or pending admission for recent graduates).

Skills:

  • Strong research, writing, and communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational abilities with attention to detail.
  • Proficient in drafting legal documents, including motions, briefs, and applications.
  • Capable of providing strategic legal advice to clients and developing case plans.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple cases simultaneously.
