A law firm seeks an associate attorney with 2-5 years of experience in privacy law, specifically focusing on data privacy regulations such as GDPR, CCPA, and CPRA. This is a hybrid position based in Dallas, TX, with the flexibility to work remotely. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in drafting and negotiating privacy and data security agreements, and will play a critical role in advising clients on their privacy compliance and regulatory obligations. The role offers the opportunity to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment with a focus on delivering strategic legal solutions.

Duties:

  • Advise clients on privacy compliance with laws such as GDPR, CCPA, and CPRA.
  • Draft and negotiate privacy and data protection provisions in a variety of agreements.
  • Assist clients in the creation and implementation of privacy policies, practices, and strategies.
  • Conduct privacy audits and assessments to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Provide counsel on data security issues, including incident response and breach management.
  • Stay current on emerging trends in data privacy law and regulatory developments.
  • Manage multiple client matters simultaneously, meeting deadlines and managing expectations effectively.
  • Communicate legal issues in clear and actionable terms to both legal and non-legal stakeholders.

Requirements:

  • 2-5 years of experience in privacy law, data protection, or similar transactional practice.
  • Proficiency in GDPR, CCPA, CPRA, and other privacy-related legislation.
  • Experience drafting and negotiating complex privacy and data security clauses in commercial agreements.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects at once.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and an ability to analyze complex legal issues.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain legal concepts clearly.
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic and fast-paced environment while maintaining high standards of quality.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
  • Strong academic performance preferred.

Certifications:

  • Active membership in a state bar association.
  • Certifications in privacy law (such as CIPP/US, CIPP/E, or similar) are a plus but not required.

Skills:

  • In-depth knowledge of privacy regulations (GDPR, CCPA, CPRA).
  • Strong legal drafting, negotiation, and analytical skills.
  • Excellent written communication and legal research capabilities.
  • Ability to explain complex legal issues in simple and understandable terms.
  • Ability to manage multiple client matters with effective time management and organization.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and legal research tools.
