Job Title: Insurance Defense Attorney

Job Overview: A distinguished law firm located in Ontario, CA, is currently seeking an experienced attorney to join its team. The role focuses on handling personal injury defense cases, particularly those involving questionable claims. The attorney will manage a broad range of legal duties including document review, depositions, expert consultations, and trial preparations. The position offers flexibility in terms of work location, with the option to work remotely based on experience.

Duties:

  • Manage individual caseload involving personal injury defense
  • Conduct initial file reviews and prepare evaluations and discovery plans
  • Depose and defend party depositions
  • Work closely with paralegals to obtain, review, and summarize medical records
  • Maintain regular communication with clients and provide timely updates
  • Retain and consult with expert witnesses
  • Conduct expert witness depositions
  • Engage in legal research and draft memoranda as needed
  • Prepare trial documents and assist with trial preparations
  • Opportunity for second chair, and potential first chair, trial experience

Requirements:

  • Active California State Bar license
  • At least 6+ years of experience in personal injury or insurance defense law
  • Familiarity with discovery rules and general litigation procedures
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines
  • Proven effectiveness in working independently and within a team

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Active membership with the California State Bar

Skills:

  • Strong negotiation and problem-solving abilities
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other legal software
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Strong client relationship management and communication
