A law firm in Andover, MA is seeking a Senior Associate Attorney to manage a busy caseload with a focus on estate planning, probate, and Medicaid applications. The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing and reviewing legal documents, conducting legal research, and communicating with clients about their matters. The role requires staying current with changes in applicable laws and statutes at various levels.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Meet with and onboard new clients, ensuring a smooth transition and understanding of their legal needs.
  • Prepare and review estate planning documents, probate documents, and Medicaid applications.
  • Conduct legal research and prepare probate pleadings and motions.
  • Prepare and review estate tax return filings.
  • Meet with clients to review documents, explaining them in plain English and addressing any questions.
  • Communicate status updates to clients regularly, ensuring they are informed about their matters.
  • Attend court hearings as needed, representing clients in various legal proceedings.
  • Manage a busy caseload efficiently, ensuring timely and effective case management.
  • Maintain knowledge of applicable laws and statutes at the local, state, and federal levels.
  • Stay updated on changes in relevant laws and statutes, ensuring compliance and best practices.
  • Complete Continuing Legal Education (CLE) credits to stay current with legal developments.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to practice law in Massachusetts.
  • Proven experience in estate planning, probate, and Medicaid law.
  • Strong record of managing a busy caseload.
  • Demonstrated ability to prepare and review complex legal documents and filings.
  • Experience attending court hearings and representing clients in legal proceedings.
