Job Overview: A prestigious law firm is seeking a Tax Associate with 5+ years of experience to join its national tax practice. The role also involves assisting clients with equity financings, technology transfers, complex licensing and collaboration arrangements, and both domestic and international tax planning.

Location:

  • Washington, D.C.

Duties:

  • Provide tax planning and advisory services in federal, state, and international tax law.
  • Advise clients on mergers and acquisitions, capital markets, and corporate finance transactions.
  • Assist with equity financings, technology transfers, and complex licensing/collaboration arrangements.
  • Develop and implement domestic and international tax planning strategies for clients.
  • Collaborate with other departments to offer comprehensive legal services.
  • Maintain and strengthen client relationships by delivering exceptional legal services.
  • Prepare and review tax-related documents, agreements, and filings.
  • Manage multiple cases and prioritize tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Participate in business development efforts, including client meetings and presentations.

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience in tax law, with a focus on mergers and acquisitions, capital markets, and corporate finance.
  • Deep knowledge of federal, state, and international tax law.
  • Experience with clients in technology, life sciences, or growth enterprises preferred.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
  • Exceptional communication skills (both written and verbal).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Strong academic credentials.

Certifications:

  • Active bar membership in a relevant jurisdiction.
  • Additional certifications (e.g., CPA) are a plus but not required.

Skills:

  • Expertise in federal, state, and international tax law.
  • Strong understanding of corporate tax issues, including mergers, acquisitions, and financing.
  • Experience in technology transfers, licensing agreements, and tax planning.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to build and maintain strong client relationships.
  • Collaborative team player with strong organizational skills.
