Associate Attorney needed for Chicago office

Job Overview:
A law firm with a national presence is seeking a highly motivated Associate Attorney to join its growing team. This position offers the opportunity to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment handling Defense Base Act (DBA) and War Hazards Compensation Act (WHCA) claims. Ideal candidates will possess strong legal analysis and communication skills, with a focus on client service and legal research.

Location:

Duties:

• Assist with a docket involving Defense Base Act claims, providing sound legal analysis and drafting petitions.

• Communicate with clients, the Department of Labor, and opposing counsel.

• Review, analyze, and summarize claims documents, including medical records, incident reports, and employment files.

• Conduct legal analysis to determine the likelihood of recovery and identify necessary documentation.

• Participate in conferences with the Department of Labor to address issues pertinent to the resolution of cases.

• Provide clear and concise communication to clients regarding DBA and WHCA claims.

Requirements:

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

• Admission to the Illinois State Bar (or eligibility to waive into the Illinois Bar).

• Effective communication with clients, opposing counsel, and government entities.

• Familiarity with Defense Base Act and War Hazards Compensation Act claims is a plus but not required.
