Litigation Associate

Job Overview:
A national law firm is seeking a full-time Litigation Associate to join its Litigation Department in Philadelphia. The ideal candidate should have 3+ years of experience in insurance coverage and bad faith litigation. Additional litigation experience, including insurance defense or creditors' rights, is beneficial. The associate will handle cases involving commercial and personal lines policies, as well as umbrella and excess policies, working independently while receiving support and guidance from senior attorneys.

Location:

• Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

Duties:

• Represent insurers in litigation involving insurance coverage and bad faith claims
• Analyze coverage questions and prepare legal opinions
• Handle coverage claims, including overseeing discovery and dispositive motion practice
• Litigate insurance bad faith and extracontractual claims through dispositive motions
• Participate in trial preparation, with trial experience being a plus
• Provide independent legal analysis and judgment while collaborating with the team as needed

Requirements:

• Education and Experience:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an ABA-accredited law school
  • 3+ years of relevant experience in insurance litigation
  • Experience with commercial lines, personal lines, and umbrella/excess policies
  • Experience litigating insurance coverage claims and bad faith cases
  • Currently admitted to practice in Pennsylvania, with an active bar license in good standing
  • Ability to obtain admission to the New Jersey bar within one year (if not already admitted)
  • Admittance to practice in New York is a plus, but not required

• Skills & Abilities:

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent judgment and the ability to work independently
  • Confidence to handle complex litigation matters
  • Trial experience is a plus
