Associate Attorney needed for Purchase office

Job Overview:
A well-established, multi-state insurance defense firm is seeking an Associate Attorney to join its team in Purchase, NY. The ideal candidate will have litigation experience, particularly in general liability or professional liability claims, and be licensed in New York and Connecticut. Candidates with experience representing architects, engineers, or handling complex construction claims are highly preferred.

Location:

• Purchase, NY

Duties:

• Manage an independent caseload with oversight from senior partners
• Draft motions, pleadings, and discovery responses
• Conduct legal research and write memorandums
• Attend hearings and court conferences
• Conduct and defend depositions
• Participate in inspections and other case-related activities
• Consult with expert witnesses
• Attend mediations and assist in trial preparation
• Provide overall litigation support through various stages of the case

Requirements:

• Licensed to practice law in New York (Connecticut license preferred)
• 1-5 years of experience in handling general liability and/or professional liability claims
• Strong background in representing architects, engineers, or handling complex construction claims is a plus
• Ability to manage cases independently with oversight
• Detail-oriented and organized

Education:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

• New York Bar License (Required)
• Connecticut Bar License (Preferred, but not required)

Skills:

• Proficiency in drafting legal documents (motions, pleadings, discovery responses)
• Strong research and writing skills
• Experience in taking and defending depositions
• Knowledge of insurance defense, including general liability and professional liability claims
• Ability to handle complex construction claims
• Effective communication skills with clients, expert witnesses, and colleagues
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple cases
