The ideal candidate will have a strong background in patent prosecution, particularly with application drafting. A degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or a related technical field is required, with additional knowledge in other areas of intellectual property considered a plus. Duties:

• Draft and prosecute patent applications, including preparing office action responses, amendments, and legal arguments
• Provide patent portfolio management, including strategic guidance for clients on patent filing, protection, and enforcement
• Conduct patentability and freedom-to-operate analyses
• Collaborate with clients and colleagues to assess and protect intellectual property rights
• Assist with litigation support, including preparing documents and participating in discovery processes
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of patent law and related intellectual property areas

Requirements:

• 3-6 years of patent prosecution experience, including application drafting
• Degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or a closely related technical field
• Must be registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO)
• Admission to the California State Bar is required
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities

Education:

• Bachelor's degree or higher in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or a related technical discipline

Certifications:

• USPTO registration is mandatory
• California State Bar membership is required
