Job Overview:
A prominent law firm is seeking a Civil Litigation Associate to join its team in Los Angeles. This is an excellent opportunity for a team-oriented attorney with at least 1 year of civil litigation defense experience in California. The ideal candidate will have strong organizational and communication skills, a proactive work ethic, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, diverse environment. This full-time role offers the chance to work on complex litigation or employment defense matters and provides a competitive compensation package.

Location:

  • Los Angeles, CA

Duties:

  • Analyze and assess case value to aid in early resolution.
  • Develop and execute comprehensive litigation plans for all phases of the litigation process.
  • Assist senior attorneys in handling various types of civil litigation cases.
  • Conduct legal research on relevant issues throughout the litigation process.
  • Maintain communication with clients, insurance carriers, and opposing counsel.
  • Conduct fact investigations and implement discovery and investigation strategies.
  • Attend and represent clients at depositions, hearings, mediations, arbitrations, and trials.
  • Draft legal documents, including meet and confer letters, dispositive motions, and trial preparation materials.
  • Prepare clients for depositions and other applicable hearings.
  • Negotiate settlements on behalf of clients.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctorate (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to and in good standing with the California State Bar.
  • Minimum of 1 year of civil litigation defense experience in California.
  • Strong legal research and analytical skills.
  • Excellent time management and communication skills.
  • Experience with task code and insurance billing guidelines (preferred).
  • Knowledge of Labor & Employment law is a plus.

Education:

  • Juris Doctorate (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Admission to the California State Bar (required).

  • Strong research and analytical abilities.
  • Effective time management and organizational skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple cases and meet deadlines.
