A law firm is seeking a dedicated and experienced Personal Injury Attorney to join their team in Charlotte. The ideal candidate will have over 5 years of experience in personal injury practice and will be responsible for managing non-priority client files from assignment through treatment and disbursement. This role involves overseeing case management, supervising staff, and ensuring high standards of client service and case handling.

Duties:

  • Manage all non-priority client files from assignment date through the treatment process and until disbursement.
  • Assign cases to Case Managers and conduct attorney reviews to monitor case progress, coverage/liability issues, and ensure clients are receiving appropriate medical care.
  • Monitor and manage departmental standards for client contact percentages and checklist items.
  • Communicate with clients to provide exceptional service and help manage medical aspects of their cases.
  • Handle escalated calls requiring attorney communication and supervise the Case Management Supervisor.
  • Participate in weekly pre-litigation conferences with litigation attorneys to determine case status and potential litigation needs.
  • Review client surveys and address any issues with the Case Management Supervisor.
  • Conduct annual reviews for the Case Management Supervisor and assist with reviews for other team members.
  • Collaborate with the firm’s HR Director to manage employee issues.
  • Communicate with external parties to facilitate case progression and answer questions from Case Managers and the Case Management Supervisor.
  • Oversee the medical records department and ensure timely review and management of case files.
  • Address questions and issues from the Medical Records Supervisor and other medical records staff.
  • Strategize to improve case value for clients and enhance department metrics.
  • Perform settlement appointments, manage withdrawal and terminations, and review all new non-priority cases for Statute of Limitations.
  • Utilize dashboard reports to analyze files and ensure accuracy in Settlement Memos and releases.
  • Handle post-settlement conversations with adjusters and ensure the use of the DLAW method for referrals during disbursement.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor from an ABA-accredited law school.
  • Admission in good standing to the North Carolina State Bar; South Carolina State Bar admission is a plus.
  • Over 5 years of experience in personal injury practice preferred.
  • Supervisory experience is highly preferred.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Windows/Office with the ability to learn and use various software programs; experience with Litify or other CRM software is preferred.
  • Bilingual (Spanish) is a plus.
