Job Overview

A law firm seeks a highly skilled and experienced Lead Attorney to oversee and mentor a team of attorneys specializing in consumer bankruptcy law. This role involves training, supervising, and ensuring attorneys adhere to firm goals and legal standards. The Lead Attorney will be responsible for managing case filings, overseeing attorney schedules, and ensuring the firm's success through effective leadership and strategic case management. This position is remote and requires bar licensure in Texas.

Duties

  • Attorney Training & Development:

    • Provide structured training to junior attorneys on investigative client interviews, financial data analysis, and case strategy.

    • Develop training materials and ensure attorneys are proficient in preparing, reviewing, and finalizing bankruptcy petitions.

    • Ensure attorneys understand and comply with relevant legal requirements.

  • Mentorship & Coaching:

    • Guide junior attorneys through complex cases, helping them develop problem-solving strategies.

    • Conduct regular one-on-one coaching sessions to support skill development and case management.

    • Foster a collaborative and growth-oriented work environment.

  • Case & Calendar Management:

    • Ensure attorneys manage their schedules effectively, meeting deadlines for client interviews, petition filings, and court hearings.

    • Oversee case progress and ensure timely and accurate legal filings.

    • Coordinate with legal support teams to optimize case handling efficiency.

  • Attorney Time-Off & Resource Management:

    • Approve and oversee attorney time-off requests to maintain balance between team flexibility and operational efficiency.

    • Ensure proper case coverage and workflow continuity when attorneys are on leave.

  • Firm Goal Management & Reporting:

    • Track monthly filing goals, ensuring junior attorneys meet performance benchmarks.

    • Report progress to senior management and implement corrective actions for performance challenges.

    • Strategically plan to improve overall efficiency and success of bankruptcy case filings.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in consumer bankruptcy law.

  • Strong background in Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 bankruptcy cases.

  • Experience training, mentoring, or managing junior attorneys.

  • Excellent problem-solving and strategic decision-making skills.

  • Superior verbal and written communication abilities.

  • Ability to multitask and manage competing priorities efficiently.

  • Familiarity with legal research tools, case management software, and Microsoft Office Suite.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Active bar licensure in Texas, including authorization to practice in all four districts.

Skills

  • Strong leadership and mentorship abilities.

  • Advanced knowledge of bankruptcy laws and court procedures.

  • Proficiency in legal drafting and research.
