Job Overview: A well-established law firm in Hartford, CT, is seeking an experienced Trusts and Estates Associate Attorney to join its estate planning and trust administration team. The successful candidate will work closely with high-net-worth individuals and institutional clients, offering comprehensive estate planning and fiduciary services. The role involves a mix of document drafting, estate and trust administration, tax planning, and providing legal advice to a diverse client base.

Duties:

• Provide counsel to high-net-worth individuals, families, and institutions on estate planning, trust administration, and fiduciary matters.
• Draft, review, and update estate planning documents, including wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and other related documents.
• Oversee probate processes, including post-mortem estate planning, tax planning, and preparation of estate and trust income tax returns.
• Advise clients on tax implications, including estate tax and income tax concerns, ensuring compliance with applicable state and federal laws.
• Work with institutional clients, closely-held businesses, and charitable organizations to address legal and tax complexities in fiduciary administration.
• Manage and advise on the administration of estates and trusts, ensuring efficient resolution of complex matters.
• Collaborate with team members to offer cohesive, client-focused legal services.
• Maintain client relationships through excellent communication and responsiveness.

Requirements:

• A minimum of five (5) years of experience in Trusts and Estates law.
• Extensive experience working with high-net-worth individuals and handling complex estate planning and fiduciary matters.
• Strong background in drafting estate planning documents and administering estates and trusts.
• In-depth knowledge of federal and state estate tax, gift tax, and income tax laws.
• Experience advising institutional clients and charitable organizations.
• Ability to handle complex, high-value estate and trust matters with attention to detail and thoroughness.
• Proven track record of providing clear, actionable legal advice to clients.

Education:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an ABA-approved law school.

Certifications:

• Active membership in good standing with the Connecticut State Bar.
• Admission to the Massachusetts Bar is a plus.
