A law firm seeks an experienced attorney to join its fast-paced education law practice in Columbia, Missouri. This full-time position offers the opportunity to provide legal counsel and defense services to over 200 Missouri public school districts. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to supporting public education and demonstrate exceptional skills in research, writing, analysis, and communication. This role is designed for someone dedicated to making a positive impact on Missouri's public schools.

Duties:

  • Provide legal advice and counsel to public school districts in Missouri.
  • Represent school districts in defense matters, including litigation and legal disputes.
  • Conduct legal research and draft memoranda, briefs, and other legal documents.
  • Advise clients on various education law issues, including policies and regulatory compliance.
  • Collaborate with clients to develop strategies that align with educational objectives and legal requirements.
  • Stay up to date with developments in education law and provide proactive legal solutions.

Requirements:

  • At least 3-5 years of experience in education law or a related field.
  • Proven ability to conduct thorough legal research, analyze complex issues, and present clear, persuasive written and oral arguments.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to handle multiple cases simultaneously.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • A passion for working with and supporting public schools.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Licensed to practice law in Missouri and in good standing with the Missouri Bar.
