Job Overview:
A reputable law firm is seeking an experienced Associate Attorney to join its employment litigation team. The ideal candidate will have 3-7 years of experience in defending single plaintiff employment claims, including harassment, discrimination, retaliation, and wrongful termination, in both state and federal courts. Duties:

  • Defend single plaintiff harassment, discrimination, retaliation, and wrongful termination claims in state and federal courts.
  • Represent clients in complaints and charges before the CRD, EEOC, and California Labor Commissioner.
  • Provide general employment-related advice and counsel to clients.
  • Prepare and respond to discovery requests.
  • Conduct and defend depositions.
  • Handle law and motion work, including preparing and responding to dispositive motions, moving to compel arbitration, and addressing discovery-related motions.
  • Prepare case evaluations and legal strategies for clients.
  • Manage and proactively handle cases, ensuring deadlines and objectives are met.
  • Prepare for and attend mediations, including drafting mediation briefs.
  • Attend court hearings, status conferences, and argue dispositive motions.
  • Gain experience with arbitration and trial proceedings.

Requirements:

  • 3-7 years of experience in employment litigation.
  • Strong background in defending single plaintiff harassment, discrimination, retaliation, and wrongful termination claims.
  • Experience representing clients before the CRD, EEOC, and/or California Labor Commissioner.
  • Proficient in preparing and responding to discovery requests and motions.
  • Skilled in conducting and defending depositions, mediations, and court hearings.
  • Arbitration and trial experience is a plus.
  • Excellent legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to independently manage a caseload and proactively handle cases.

Education:

  • Juris Doctorate (J.D.) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Admitted to practice law in the State of California.

  • Strong research, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to manage cases independently while working in a team environment.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for interacting with clients, opposing counsel, and courts.
