A law firm seeks an experienced Creditor's Rights Attorney to join its team in Columbia, SC. This role provides the opportunity to work on mortgage foreclosure and collections cases, utilizing extensive knowledge of creditor’s rights and South Carolina’s legal system. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in resolving legal issues related to foreclosure, discovery, and conflict resolution, and will be committed to providing superior client service while building long-term industry relationships.

Duties:

  • Case Management: Handle all aspects of mortgage foreclosure and collections cases, from initiation through resolution.
  • Discovery and Depositions: Manage discovery processes, conduct depositions, and resolve legal conflicts.
  • Client Relations: Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, acting as a trusted advisor and partner in creditor’s rights matters.
  • Legal Representation: Provide legal counsel and representation in state courts, with a focus on South Carolina’s legal system.
  • Strategic Development: Work proactively to establish relationships within the legal community and industry to enhance the firm’s reputation.
  • Compliance and Documentation: Ensure all legal documentation and procedures comply with applicable laws and regulations.

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience in mortgage foreclosure and collections.
  • Strong understanding of the discovery process, depositions, and conflict resolution.
  • Proven ability to build relationships with clients and colleagues, becoming a trusted advisor in the industry.
  • In-depth knowledge of South Carolina state law and its application in creditor’s rights cases.
  • Strong client service orientation with the ability to exercise independent judgment in legal matters.
  • Flexibility to manage after-hours coverage when needed.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active license to practice law in South Carolina.

Skills:

  • Strong litigation skills, particularly in creditor’s rights and mortgage foreclosure cases.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for client relations and industry networking.
  • High level of organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Proficiency in legal research and analysis.
