Criminal Defense Attorney

A law firm in Modesto, CA, is seeking a dedicated Criminal Defense Attorney to manage a diverse caseload and provide exceptional legal representation to clients facing criminal charges.

Duties:

• Manage a caseload of criminal cases from inception through resolution.
• Advise clients on their legal rights and options in criminal matters.
• Attend and represent clients at pretrial hearings and advise on strategies.
• Conduct legal research and analysis to assess case outcomes and strategies.
• Prepare and draft legal documents, including motions, pleadings, and appeals.
• Interview witnesses, gather evidence, and prepare clients for depositions.
• Negotiate plea agreements with prosecutors on behalf of clients.
• Represent clients in court proceedings, including trials and sentencing hearings.
• Maintain accurate and detailed case files and documentation.

Requirements:

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
• Admission to the California State Bar with good standing.
• Minimum of 2+ years of experience in criminal defense practice.
• Proven track record of handling complex criminal cases at federal, state, and local levels.
• Strong courtroom presence and ability to advocate persuasively for clients.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage a high-volume caseload effectively.
• Bilingual proficiency in Spanish preferred.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues.
