A law firm seeks a skilled and motivated Associate Attorney with 3+ years of experience in the defense of non-asbestos toxic tort claims. This position provides the opportunity to work on a wide range of complex litigation matters while enjoying the flexibility of remote or hybrid work options. Duties:

  • Represent clients in the defense of non-asbestos toxic tort cases, including but not limited to exposure to chemicals, hazardous materials, and environmental claims.
  • Manage all phases of litigation, including discovery, depositions, motion practice, and trial preparation.
  • Take and defend depositions of witnesses and experts.
  • Draft, prepare, and argue motions in state and federal courts.
  • Work closely with senior attorneys to strategize and develop defense approaches.
  • Maintain clear communication with clients, opposing counsel, and the court.
  • Independently manage a caseload while meeting deadlines and client expectations.

Requirements:

  • Admission to the State Bar of California.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in defending non-asbestos toxic tort cases.
  • Proven experience in conducting discovery, depositions, preparing and arguing motions, and assisting with trial preparation.
  • Strong ability to manage cases independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple cases simultaneously.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active membership in the State Bar of California.

Skills:

  • Strong litigation and case management skills.
  • Proficient in legal research and writing, particularly in toxic tort and environmental law.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Proven ability to work independently and manage a busy caseload.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to build strong relationships with clients and colleagues.
