Job Overview: A law firm specializing in corporate law and tax advisory seeks a Mid-Level Tax Associate Attorney to join their New York City office. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in tax law, particularly in corporate and restructuring transactions, and will be pivotal in advising clients on complex tax matters.

Duties:

  • Provide legal counsel on various tax issues related to corporate transactions and restructuring.
  • Draft and negotiate transactional documents, including agreements, contracts, and tax-related provisions.
  • Conduct legal research and analysis to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax laws.
  • Assist clients in tax planning strategies and advise on potential tax implications of business decisions.
  • Collaborate with senior attorneys and partners on complex tax projects and client matters.
  • Participate in client meetings, hearings, and negotiations as required.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Barred in New York State or pending admission with confirmation of application.
  • Minimum of 4+ years of relevant experience in tax law within a law firm setting, preferably at an AmLaw 50 firm.
  • Strong understanding of corporate transactions and restructuring from a tax perspective.
  • Proven ability to handle complex legal matters independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex legal concepts to clients and colleagues.

Education and Certifications:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the New York State Bar or pending admission with application confirmation.

Skills:

  • Deep knowledge of federal, state, and local tax laws, regulations, and rulings.
  • Proficiency in drafting and negotiating transactional documents.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple deadlines effectively.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality work.
