Environmental Law Associate

A law firm seeks an associate attorney to join its environmental law team in Washington, DC. This role focuses on guiding clients through complex environmental regulations, litigation, and compliance matters. Duties:

• Provide legal advice on environmental regulations, compliance, and permitting processes.
• Handle cases involving the investigation, remediation, and litigation of environmental contamination.
• Participate in legal proceedings under CERCLA and RCRA frameworks.
• Advise clients on environmental risk management and transfer strategies.
• Address legal challenges related to energy and environmental regulatory matters.
• Collaborate with team members to craft innovative legal solutions for clients.

Requirements:

• Minimum of 1 year of substantial experience in environmental law.
• Preferred background in science, engineering, or urban planning.
• Knowledge of contaminated property litigation, CERCLA/RCRA procedures, and environmental risk transfer is a plus.
• Prior exposure to energy or regulatory law is beneficial.
• Strong legal research, writing, and analytical abilities.
• Self-driven, with excellent judgment and communication skills.

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from a recognized law school.

Certifications:

• Active bar membership in at least one U.S. jurisdiction, with eligibility to practice in Washington, DC, preferred.
