A law firm in New York City, NY is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Environmental Litigation Associate Attorney to join their team. The successful candidate will have a deep understanding of state and federal environmental laws, including CERCLA, and will play a crucial role in helping clients navigate complex environmental issues. Key Responsibilities

  • Provide legal counsel and representation in environmental litigation, focusing on both state and federal laws.
  • Handle cases involving environmental compliance, regulations, enforcement, and litigation, with particular emphasis on CERCLA.
  • Conduct legal research and analysis on environmental statutes and regulatory frameworks, advising clients on their applicability to various legal matters.
  • Draft pleadings, motions, legal memoranda, and other court documents related to environmental law cases.
  • Manage the representation of clients in connection with sites requiring remedial action under state and federal laws.
  • Advise clients on environmental transactions, due diligence, and risk management in relation to environmental liabilities.
  • Represent clients in negotiations and disputes with government agencies and in enforcement actions related to environmental compliance.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and experts to develop case strategies and provide comprehensive legal support to clients.
  • Maintain strong client relationships through excellent communication and personalized legal counsel.

Requirements

  • 2-3 years of experience in environmental law, with a focus on litigation and regulatory matters.
  • In-depth exposure to federal and state environmental laws, particularly CERCLA, and environmental compliance regulations.
  • Ability to analyze statutory and regulatory requirements and apply them to a variety of legal and client issues.
  • Experience managing environmental remediation cases, including handling complex legal matters involving government agencies and environmental enforcement.
  • Admission to practice law in the state of New York.

Education and Certifications

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the bar in the state of New York is required.
  • Additional certifications in environmental law or related fields are a plus but not mandatory.
