Duties

  • Provide expert legal advice on tax compliance, planning, and strategy.
  • Manage and oversee client files, ensuring timely and accurate responses to inquiries.
  • Lead and supervise tax-related cases from inception to resolution.
  • Develop and implement strategies for business growth, including building and maintaining a portable book of business.
  • Handle multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously while maintaining high responsiveness.
  • Prepare and review tax returns, documents, and reports for accuracy and compliance.
  • Conduct research and provide legal opinions on complex tax issues.
  • Collaborate with clients to understand their needs and provide tailored legal solutions.
  • Stay current with tax law and regulation changes, and incorporate them into practice.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3+ years of experience in a law or public accounting firm with significant tax compliance experience.
  • Proven ability to develop business, with a potential portable book of business preferred.
  • Demonstrated capability to manage client files, lead cases, and supervise client contact.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects and deadlines with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Outstanding customer/client service skills.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Master of Laws (LL.M.) in Taxation is strongly preferred.

Certifications

  • Admission to the Michigan Bar is required.
