A well-regarded law firm in Augusta, ME, is seeking an experienced Family Law Attorney to join its team. This position will focus on managing a variety of family law matters, including divorce, child custody, and parental rights & responsibilities cases. The ideal candidate will be an effective advocate, a strategic thinker, and someone who can deliver exceptional results while maintaining the highest standards of legal service.

Duties:

• Represent clients through all phases of family law litigation, including hearings and trials
• Prepare and draft legal documents such as pleadings, motions, agreements, and settlement proposals
• Conduct in-depth legal research and formulate case strategies based on client needs
• Lead settlement negotiations, always prioritizing the client's best interests
• Maintain clear and professional communication with clients, opposing counsel, and court personnel
• Work collaboratively with a team of legal professionals to provide outstanding legal services

Requirements:

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school
• Active membership in the Maine State Bar (or the ability to obtain reciprocal admission if relocating)
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in family law, with a focus on courtroom litigation
• Demonstrated experience handling complex divorce and child custody matters with little supervision
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage a large caseload
• Empathy and professionalism when dealing with sensitive client matters

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school

Certifications:

• Active Bar membership in good standing with the Maine State Bar (or willingness to apply for reciprocal admission)
