A law firm in Mt. Laurel, NJ, specializing in civil litigation defense, seeks a dedicated Professional Liability/Employment Associate Attorney to represent employers and state agencies in employment matters. The ideal candidate will manage cases independently from inception through trial, demonstrating strong analytical, writing, research, and communication skills.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Represent employers and state agencies in a variety of employment litigation matters, including discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and wage disputes.
  • Manage a caseload independently, including drafting pleadings, motions, and discovery requests/responses.
  • Conduct legal research and analysis on complex employment law issues.
  • Prepare for and attend hearings, depositions, and trials as necessary.
  • Provide strategic advice and counsel to clients on employment law compliance and risk management.
  • Collaborate with partners and senior attorneys on complex legal issues and case strategies.
  • Maintain accurate and timely billing records.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the New Jersey State Bar; admission to the Pennsylvania State Bar is a plus.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience practicing law, with at least 3 years focused on employment law litigation.
  • Proven track record of independently managing a caseload of employment litigation matters.
  • Strong understanding of federal and state employment laws and regulations.
  • Excellent analytical, writing, research, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Demonstrated commitment to providing exceptional client service.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience representing employers or state agencies in employment litigation.
  • Trial experience in employment law cases.
  • Familiarity with electronic discovery and document management systems.
