The ideal candidate will have a background in electrical engineering, experience in patent preparation and prosecution, and a demonstrated ability to manage tasks efficiently and effectively.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Work on complex, technical legal matters for sophisticated clients in the technology sector.
  • Draft concise, organized, and well-reasoned Office Action responses.
  • Handle patent preparation and prosecution under the supervision of an experienced patent attorney.
  • Collaborate with clients to understand their technical inventions and provide legal advice.
  • Prepare and draft patent applications, including detailed technical descriptions and claims.
  • Conduct legal research and provide analysis on patentability, validity, and infringement issues.
  • Manage case files and ensure tasks are completed on time and within budget.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, providing updates and explaining legal strategies.
  • Stay current with developments in patent law and technology fields relevant to the firm's client base.
  • Attend and participate in client meetings, industry conferences, and other professional events.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 1 year of law firm patent preparation and prosecution experience in technical fields relevant to the client base, under the supervision of an experienced patent attorney.
  • Electrical Engineering degree (at least B.S.E.E.) from an accredited university, with demonstrated academic achievement.
  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited U.S. law school with demonstrated academic achievement.
  • Admission to a State Bar and USPTO registration in good standing.
  • Demonstrated ability to draft concise, organized, and well-reasoned Office Action responses.
  • Proven track record of completing tasks on time and within allotted budget.
  • Academic background and/or industry work experience in a technology field relevant to the firm's client base is desired.

Education

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (B.S.E.E.) from an accredited university.
  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited U.S. law school.

Certifications

  • Licensed to practice law in a U.S. state.
  • USPTO registration in good standing.
