Job Overview
A respected law firm is seeking an experienced International Estate Planning Associate or Senior Associate to join its Private Client Practice. This role is suited for professionals with at least 4 years of experience in sophisticated cross-border estate planning, advising high-net-worth individuals and families. The position can be based at any of the firm’s offices, and the firm offers flexibility with a hybrid work schedule to accommodate work-life balance.

Duties

  • Advise U.S. and non-U.S. taxpayers on international estate planning, including cross-border tax issues and wealth management strategies.
  • Assist clients with foreign trusts, pre-immigration and expatriation planning, and the purchase of U.S. property by non-U.S. persons.
  • Ensure compliance with U.S. tax reporting obligations for clients with overseas interests in foreign accounts, corporations, and trusts.
  • Provide tailored legal solutions to meet the estate planning needs of high-net-worth individuals and multinational families.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of legal professionals to offer comprehensive legal services.
  • Support clients on complex tax and estate issues across multiple jurisdictions.

Requirements

  • At least 4 years of experience in international estate planning, with a focus on cross-border tax matters.
  • Strong technical skills in estate planning for high-net-worth individuals and multinational families.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain complex legal concepts.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple matters independently, while working proactively and collaboratively within a team.
  • Ability to develop creative and effective solutions to meet client needs.
  • Must be a member in good standing with the bar in the jurisdiction where the position is based.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Licensed to practice law in the jurisdiction where the position is based.

  • Expertise in international estate planning and cross-border tax issues.
  • Strong drafting skills, including the ability to prepare estate planning documents, tax filings, and legal agreements.
