A law firm in Houston, TX, is seeking a highly qualified Patent Agent and Technical Specialist to join their intellectual property team. The successful candidate will have a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Physics, with a strong background in patent application preparation and prosecution. The role requires at least 2 years of patent prosecution experience, with specific technical expertise in wireless telecommunication standards, signal processing, or computer networking.

Duties:

  • Draft and prosecute patent applications, including preparing and revising claims, specifications, and responses to office actions.
  • Conduct thorough technical assessments related to wireless telecommunication standards, signal processing, or computer networking.
  • Perform prior art searches and analyze the patentability of inventions.
  • Collaborate with inventors, clients, and legal teams to develop and execute effective patent strategies.
  • Offer expert guidance on patent-related issues, including patentability, infringement, and freedom-to-operate.
  • Prepare and review various patent-related documents and correspondence.
  • Stay updated on developments in patent laws and technological advancements to provide current and relevant advice.
  • Provide technical support during patent litigation and other intellectual property disputes.
  • Manage multiple patent prosecution projects efficiently, ensuring timely and accurate completion.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in patent prosecution.
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Physics.
  • Technical experience with wireless telecommunication standards, signal processing, or computer networking.
  • Proficient in patent application preparation and prosecution.
  • Strong analytical, research, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

Education:
