A law firm is seeking an Entry-Level Immigration Attorney in Oak Park, IL.

 

Job Overview:

The Entry-Level Immigration Attorney will report to the Sr. Associate Attorney and manage their caseload while collaborating with the Immigration Team. They will represent clients in various immigration proceedings, provide legal analysis, and prepare necessary documentation.

 

Duties:

  • Explain immigration concepts and provide strategic solutions
  • Represent non-detained and detained individuals in removal proceedings before the Immigration Court and Board of Immigration Appeals
  • Manage workload of cases effectively
  • Conduct intakes with detained individuals at centers
  • Prepare diverse immigration applications including removal defense and family-based petitions
  • Review immigration applications and make necessary adjustments
  • Collaborate with law enforcement, prosecutorial offices, and community-based organizations on immigration law changes
  • Conduct strategic immigration consultations with potential clients
  • Develop strategies and prepare clients/witnesses for court/USCIS testimony
  • Provide legal analysis for clients to determine case benefits
  • Prepare and submit legal briefs for various immigration cases

 

Requirements:

  • 0-3 years of Immigration Law Experience
  • Bilingual proficiency in Spanish preferred
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills
  • Record of managing legal cases and workload efficiently
  • Experience with Family-Based Petitions, Humanitarian, EOIR, Detained, Citizenship, and other USCIS applications
  • Experience with Case Management Software preferred

 

Education & Certifications:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school
  • Admission to practice law in the relevant jurisdiction

  • Strong legal research and writing abilities
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Attention to detail and organizational skills
