A law firm in Albuquerque, NM, is seeking a highly qualified Associate Attorney with 3-5 years of experience representing financial institutions in contested litigation. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in all stages of litigation, from pre-litigation to appeals, and will be adept at guiding procedural changes within the firm. This role offers an opportunity to engage in significant legal work while contributing to the firm’s growth and success.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as counsel throughout all stages of litigation, including pre-litigation, pleadings, discovery, trial preparation, trial attendance, post-trial activities, and appeals.
  • Guide and advise operational staff on implementing procedural changes, reviewing, and approving these changes as needed.
  • Manage contested default cases and handle banking litigation specific to the jurisdiction.
  • Conduct thorough legal research and analysis using tools such as Westlaw, LexisNexis, or other related systems.
  • Prepare and draft legal documents, including pleadings, motions, and briefs.
  • Attend court hearings, trials, and other legal proceedings as required.
  • Develop and implement case strategies in collaboration with clients and colleagues.
  • Maintain and manage case files and documentation efficiently.
  • Adapt to additional duties and responsibilities as assigned based on the firm’s needs and the attorney’s career development.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
  • License to practice law in New Mexico.
  • Admission to practice before federal district courts.
  • 3-5 years of experience representing financial institutions in contested litigation.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Superior organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in legal research applications such as Westlaw, LexisNexis, or other related systems.
