Job Overview:
A law firm is seeking an experienced Civil Litigation Attorney to join its growing team. The ideal candidate will have at least 4 years of experience in civil litigation, preferably in defense, and be licensed in North Carolina and South Carolina. Location:

Duties:

  • Handle civil litigation cases, with a focus on defense work.
  • Manage a diverse caseload and take ownership of client matters.
  • Conduct legal research, drafting, and provide strategic legal counsel.
  • Represent clients in court and during settlement negotiations.
  • Collaborate with senior attorneys and clients on case strategy and management.
  • Ensure all client deadlines are met and maintain a high level of communication.
  • Participate in firm retreats, education, and social events.

Requirements:

  • 4+ years of civil litigation experience (preferably in civil defense).
  • Licensed to practice in North Carolina.
  • Strong research, writing, and advocacy skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
  • Client-focused, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong work ethic and ability to perform under pressure.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Licensed to practice law in North Carolina (bonus if also licensed in South Carolina).

Skills:

  • Strong legal research and writing abilities.
  • Effective oral advocacy and negotiation skills.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to manage complex cases.
  • Leadership and self-starter with a proactive attitude.
  • Experience in retail/hospitality, trucking, construction, or insurance coverage law is a plus.
  • Clerkship experience (state or federal) is a plus.
  • Former military, prosecutor, or public defender experience is a plus.
