A law firm seeks an experienced associate attorney to join its Real Estate Investment and Development practice in Chicago. This position provides an exciting opportunity to work on complex real estate transactions, including property leasing, acquisition and disposition, financing, and joint ventures. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical knowledge of real estate law, excellent analytical skills, and a collaborative mindset. Duties

  • Advise clients on a wide range of real estate transactions, including leasing, property acquisition, and disposition.
  • Handle real estate financing and investment matters, including structuring and negotiating agreements.
  • Assist in the formation and management of real estate joint ventures.
  • Work on development and redevelopment projects, guiding clients through the legal complexities.
  • Provide counsel on regulatory matters, zoning, land use, and real estate tax issues.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across practice areas to deliver integrated legal solutions.
  • Draft and review real estate contracts, purchase agreements, joint venture agreements, and related documents.
  • Manage transactions from inception to closing, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, offering strategic advice and solutions.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in real estate law, with a focus on investment and development.
  • Experience in leasing, property acquisition and disposition, real estate financing, joint ventures, and development projects.
  • Strong academic background and a proven track record in real estate law.
  • Ability to manage complex legal issues and provide practical, business-oriented solutions.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Strong communication skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Experience with development and redevelopment projects is a plus.
  • Ability to build and maintain client relationships and grow a practice.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Strong academic credentials.

Certifications

  • Active bar admission, with preference for candidates licensed in Illinois.

  • Expertise in real estate law, particularly in the areas of investment, development, and joint ventures.
  • Proficiency in drafting and negotiating real estate contracts and transactions.
