A law firm in Scottsdale, AZ is seeking an Associate Attorney with a strong interest or experience in the consumer collection industry. The ideal candidate will advocate for clients throughout the legal collection process, handle all aspects of litigation, and provide thorough legal assessments and advice. This position requires excellent communication skills, the ability to manage multiple cases in a fast-paced environment, and a commitment to maintaining integrity and achieving results.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Litigation & Advocacy:

    • Represent clients in and out of court during the legal collection process.
    • Handle all aspects of a case’s litigation life cycle, including filing, discovery, and trials.
    • Travel to various courts within the state to attend hearings, mediations, and other legal proceedings.
    • Communicate with opposing counsel and pro se parties to resolve disputes and negotiate amicable settlements.
  • Legal Document Preparation:

    • Draft and review legal briefs, pleadings, correspondence, and other relevant legal documents.
    • Ensure all account/file activity is documented according to firm and client policies and procedures.
    • Prepare case-related documents in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Legal Research & Advice:

    • Research and interpret laws, rulings, regulations, and court procedures.
    • Formulate legal opinions and provide thorough assessments for review by the supervising attorney.
    • Stay informed on changes in local, state, and federal laws affecting the consumer collection industry.
  • Client Relations:

    • Communicate regularly with clients to provide updates and ensure client satisfaction.
    • Develop and maintain strong client relationships through responsive and professional interactions.
    • Offer practical legal advice tailored to client needs while adhering to ethical standards.
  • Professional Development:

    • Attend continuing education classes, webinars, and seminars to remain current on legal changes and industry best practices.
    • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of court rules and procedures to ensure compliance with legal standards.

Job Requirements:

  • Experience:

    • Experience or interest in the consumer collection industry.
    • Ability to manage multiple cases in a fast-paced legal environment.
    • Experience drafting and reviewing legal documents, conducting legal research, and advocating in court.
  • Skills:

    • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to evaluate complex legal issues and develop strategic solutions.
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
    • Ability to negotiate settlements and resolve disputes effectively.
    • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
    • Proficiency in legal research tools and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Bar Admission:

    • Must be admitted to practice law in Arizona.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD):
    • Graduation from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active bar membership in Arizona.
